Japan and Georgia picked up two golds each today on a night of freestyle action at the United World Wrestling Under-23 World Championships in Bucharest.

With five golds up for grabs in all, Japan won their world titles at 57 kilograms and 65kg, while wrestlers from Georgia won at 79kg and 97kg.

Slovakia picked up the fifth gold of the evening in the 70kg final.

The first world title of the day at the Sala Polivalenta Bucharest Sports Hall was claimed by Japan’s Toshihiro Hasegawa, who beat Kumar Ravi from India 6-0 in the 57kg event, before Japan picked up their second gold in the very next final through Rei Higuchi at 65kg.

The Olympic silver medallist at 57kg beat Azerbaijan’s Ali Rahimzade in a much tighter final 5-4.

Georgia’s golds then came in the two heaviest categories of the night, with Nika Kentchadze winning the first at 79kg, 3-0 against Russia’s Gadzhi Nabiev.

The most emphatic win of the evening came in the last final of the night, when Givi Matcharashvili beat Kollin Raymond Moore from the United States by technical superiority 10-0.

Slovakia's gold meanwhile, came through Taimuraz Salkazanov who beat Russia's David Baev at 70kg 9-1.

Tomorrow on the final day of competition, medals will be won across five more freestyle divisions, 61kg, 74kg, 86kg, 92kg and 125kg.
