South Korea's fencers finished on a high at the International Fencing Federation's Men's Sabre World Cup in Algiers today as they won the concluding team event.

A day after Hansol Ha had claimed victory in the individual event at the Salle Omnisports Harcha Hacene, he and his colleagues added another gold with a 45-31 win over Russia.

South Korea took a 5-4 lead after the first bout and were never headed thereafter.

Ha's fellow gold medallists were Oh Sanguk - who he beat in the individual semi-final - Gu Bongil and Kim Junho.

For Gu in particular it was a very happy conclusion to the event.

As a double Olympic team champion, world team gold medallist and Asian Games champion he had been ranked second in the individual event but lost his opening match to Japan's Kenta Tokunan.

Russia had won their semi-final 45-43 against an Italian team that included the individual silver medallist and London 2012 team bronze medallist Luigi Samele.

There was further disappointment in store for the Italians as they lost an even closer bronze medal match, going down 45-44 to Germany.
