The International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Big Air World Cup season is set to resume this weekend with 2022 Winter Olympic Games hosts Beijing staging the latest leg at its National Stadium.

It will be the third of four FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cups in the 2018-2019 campaign, following the season-opener in Cardrona in New Zealand in September and the Modena event in Italy earlier this month.

On the women’s side of competition, Japan’s Reira Iwabuchi will be looking to make it three-straight wins in Beijing.

She is likely to face a strong battle with compatriot Miyabi Onitsuka, who finished runner-up to younger team-mate in Cardrona and Modena.

Also in action will be Austria’s Anna Gasser, the reigning Olympic and world champion and two-time crystal globe winner.

She made history last week by becoming the first female rider to produce a triple invert, putting down a triple underflip while training in Stubai in her home country.

On the men’s side, the United States' Chris Corning and Japan’s Takeru Otsuka will recommence their battle at the top of the World Cup standings.

They are tied after two competitions with a win and runners-up finish apiece.

Corning claimed victory in Cardrona on his 19th birthday, while Otsuka came out on top in Modena.

Action in Beijing is due to begin tomorrow with qualification.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday (November 24).

The event forms part of the legendary Air + Style circuit, on which China's capital has featured since 2010.
