In the men’s singles draw, third seed and home favourite Sameer Verma progressed after beating Indonesia’s Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 21-13, 17-21, 21-8 at the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium.

Verma is now scheduled to face the sixth seed Lu Guangzu of China, who overcame Thailand’s Sitthikom Thammasin 10-21, 21-16, 21-17.

Former world number one Saina Nehwal will represent the hosts in the women’s singles final as she defeated Indonesia’s Ruselli Hartawan, 12-21, 21-7, 21-6 in her last four clash.

The second seed is now set to face China’s fourth seed Han Yue for the title.

Yue beat compatriot and seventh seed Li Xuerui 21-15, 19-21, 21-9.

The home support will be needed for eighth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as they take on the second seeds in the men’s doubles final.

Rankireddy and Shetty beat fifth seeds Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark 22-20, 25-23 to advance.

Indonesia's Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto progressed after they defeated Russia’s seventh seeds Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov, 21-14, 27-25.

In the women’s doubles, home favourites Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy overcame Russia’s Ekaterina Bolotova and Alina Davletova 21-18, 21-16 in their semi-final.

Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean of Malaysia progressed at the expense of second seeds Della Destiara Haris and Rizki Amelia Pradipta after the Indonesian pair had to retire in the third game.

The mixed doubles final is the only match that will not feature Indian players as fourth seeds Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari from Indonesia are set to play China’s Qu Xuanyi and Feng Xueying.

Rivaldy and Mentari beat fifth seed compatriots Alfian Eko Prasetya and Marsheilla Gischa Islami, despite losing the first game.

A strong recovery saw them prevail 7-21, 21-13, 21-14.

Qu and Feng denied India’s sixth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa a place in the final after a 21-12, 18-21, 21-19 victory.
