Claiming a medal silver medal in the men's technical SUP event, Connor Baxter from the US earned a spot in next year's Pan American Games in Lima as the highest finishing athlete from the America.

Appleby’s win in the women’s race gave her a spot at Lima 2019 as well.

After the races, Hasulyo said the win gave him "the best feeling ever".

“I got sixth in the technical race and fourth in the distance last year,” he said.

"It feels awesome to win the gold," said Appleby.

"I never imagined that I would be stand up paddleboarding all the way in China."
