Japan’s Shingo Kunieda booked his place in the men’s singles final at the Wheelchair Tennis Masters in Orlando.

The tournament top seed had finished in second place in his group at the tournament, which only invites the world's top-ranked players, following a defeat to Sweden’s Stefan Olsson.

This led to Kunieda facing the tricky task of overcoming Argentina’s Gustavo Fernandez, who had won all three of his group matches at the USTA National Campus.

Kunieda proved up to the challenge as the Japanese star earned a hard fought 7-6, 6-4 victory over his rival.

Neither of the two group winners progressed from the semi-finals, as Olsson suffered a straight sets defeat to Belgium's Joachim Gerard.

The Swedish player was unable to change the momentum of his match against the Belgian, who ultimately emerged as a 6-1, 6-2 victor.

Diede De Groot secured her place in the women’s final in impressive fashion as she won an all-Dutch match against Aniek van Koot 6-2, 6-0.

The reigning champion is yet to drop a set in Orlando and will hope to successfully defend her title when she meets Yui Kamiji of Japan.

Kamiji progressed to the final after beating Italy’s Giulia Capocci 6-1, 6-2.

Australia’s Dylan Alcott and Britain’s Andy Lapthorne will contest the quads singles final.

Alcott secured a 6-2, 6-3 win over South Africa’s Lucas Sithole in his semi-final match, while Lapthorne was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Japan’s Koji Sugeno.
