Huixquilucan in Mexico has played host to the second edition of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) America Forum, capping off what the body describes was a "productive" 2018.

The event, which focused on the topic of "sport in the university curriculum", was held at the Anahuac University Mexico North Campus.

It included multiple exhibitions, round tables and debates related to university sport and cultural activities.

FISU secretary general Eric Saintrond was also present at the America Forum, along with 100 participants from 15 universities representing Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

One of major tournaments organised by FISU America this year was the 3x3 Cup for basketball in Santa Tecla in El Salvador.

The tournament doubled as the continental qualifier for the 3x3 FISU World University League Finals, which took place last month in Xiamen in China.

Teams from Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico all qualified for the event.

Another highlight of 2018 was the staging of the first-ever FISU America Games in São Paulo.

Organised and hosted by the Brazilian University Sports Federation, the historic event was held in July.

It brought together 1,400 student-athletes from 13 countries across North and South America.

"FISU America worked hard in the preparation of all events and successfully met the objectives of the 2018 calendar," FISU America President Alim Maluf Neto said.

"We expect a much better 2019."
