Rwanda's seventh edition of its annual Taekwondo National Championships will be held from December 26 to 28.

The three day competition will take place at the Amahoro Stadium in the Rwandan capital of Kigali, the same venue used for October's Ambassador's Cup.

It will feature men's and women's youth, junior and senior categories as well as a Para-taekwondo competition.

Participants will have the chance to be selected to represent Rwanda on the international stage.

"We have started preparations early for the 2018 Championship, it's going to attract more teams and more players than ever before," said Rwanda Taekwondo Federation President Placide Bagabo.

"It is from the best performers that we will select players who will represent the country in international competitions next year."

It is expected that 20 teams will compete in the tournament, an improvement on the 15 from last year.

Dream Fighters from Kimironko won the 2017 event, with Dream Taekwondo coming second while Unity Taekwondo finished third.
