Ridzuan claimed three gold medals at the Games, which took place in Indonesia's capital city Jakarta last year.

The reigning men's T36 100 metres Paralympic champion emerged as the winner of the same event at the Asian Para Games.

He would also triumph in the 400m competition, as well as taking gold in the long jump.

The latter saw Ridzuan defend the title he earned as the Incheon 2014.

As well as winning three golds, Ridzuan set a world record in the 100m and an Asian Para Games record in the long jump.

According to The Star, Ridzuan is now set to receive the Best Asian Male Para Athlete award for 2018.

The 31-year-old is expected to collect his award next month in Dubai.

"I never expected to win the award as there were a few other athletes who have also done well in the Asian Para Games," Ridzuan told The Star.

"It's an honour as I'm the first Malaysian to win this award."

Ridzuan has reportedly thanked Malaysia's National Sports Council and National Paralympic Committee for their support.

He has also credited his coach R. Jaganathan for helping him to achieve success.
