Organisers of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Lahti have claimed athletes will compete in good conditions after confirming a positive snow control for the event.

More than 700 athletes from 40 countries are set to take part at the event, which is due to begin tomorrow.

All events, except for qualifications, will also be shown on a dedicated live stream during the Championships, scheduled to conclude next Sunday (January 27).

The live stream has been praised by Organising Committee secretary general Aino-Kaisa Saarinen, who claimed it will increase the exposure of the junior Nordic disciplines.

It will cost €29.99 (£26/$34) for an event pass and €8.99 (£8/$10) for a day pass.

"It is very important, that we can offer the live stream," said Saarinen.

"The FIS Junior World Championships are an early goal for young athletes in their careers and we are proud to show the events to a wide audience as well."

The first gold medals are due to be won in the men's and women's under-20 cross-country sprint classic events tomorrow.

Cross-country action is set to resume on Monday (January 21), before Nordic Combined is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (January 23).

The ski jumping finals are due to start on Thursday (January 24).
