Five teams are set to battle it out for a place at this year's World Team Cup wheelchair tennis tournament at the Americas qualifier starting tomorrow in Orlando.

The event at the USTA National Campus, hosting the competition for the second successive year, officially opens the qualification process for the World Team Cup.

Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and United States are the five teams entered in the men's event at the qualifier, scheduled to run until Friday (February 1).

Colombia and Mexico will go head-to-head in the women's tournament at the venue which hosted last year's Wheelchair Tennis Masters.

The winner in each of the men's and women's events will secure a spot at the 2019 World Team Cup, the wheelchair equivalent of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup tournaments.

All head-to-head ties will be composed of two singles and one doubles contest in Orlando.

The men's competition features a round-robin phase, with the top two progressing to the knock-out round.

In the women's event, Colombia and Mexico will clash in three separate ties.

This year's World Team Cup is due to take place in Ramat Hasharon in Israel from May 13 to 18.
