Another weekend of high-quality fencing action will begin tomorrow with competitions taking place in three former Olympic cities - Turin, Barcelona and Vancouver.

Both men and women will be in foil action in Turin, at an International Fencing Federation (FIE) Grand Prix event.

Competition will take place at the Pala Apitour in the Italian city.

FIE World Cup action will also begin in the other two venues tomorrow, with Barcelona staging women's épée in Spain and men's épée set for Canadian city Vancouver.

Barcelona will stage its event at the Institut Nacional d'Educació Física de Catalunya with Vancouver hosting at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

Turin's event will see action for Richard Kruse, who became Britain's first fencing world number one after winning the World Cup in Tokyo last month.

He will face competition from reigning world champion Alessio Foconi, with the Italian world number two looking to impress on home soil.

Italy's Rio 2016 Olympic champion Daniele Garozzo will also be a threat in front of his home fans, and comes in as the fourth best fencer in the rankings.

World number one and Olympic gold medallist Inna Deriglazova of Russia headlines the women's field, but will face competition from home star Alice Volpi, the current world champion and world number two.

In Barcelona, world number one and world champion Mara Navarria will compete for Italy.

Hong Kong's second-ranked Man Wai Vivian Kong also promises to be a threat.

World number one and world champion Yannick Borel is not on the start-list in Vancouver, leaving Ukraine's world number two Bogdan Nikishin as the highest-rated fencer in the draw.

Reigning Olympic champion Park Sang-young of South Korea enters as world number five.

Individual action in Turin will take place over three days.

The solo winners will be crowned within two days in Barcelona and Vancouver, with team events concluding these events on Sunday (February 10).

Barcelona hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics, with Turin and Vancouver staging the respective Winter editions in 2006 and 2010.
