Olympic champion Uladzislau Hancharou topped the men's individual trampoline qualifying event at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Trampoline World Cup in Baku.

The Belarusian, the gold medallist at Rio 2016, topped the men's individual trampoline qualifying event at the World Cup season opener at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. 

He also won the World Cup title during the 2017-2018 season.

Today he scored a total of 114.470 points to lead qualifying, ahead of China's Dong Dong on 113.070 and Russia's Andrey Yudin on 112.560. 

Lin Qianqi of China topped the women's individual trampoline qualifying, scoring 107.130 points to do so.

Her compatriot Liu Lingling was behind her with 105.400 points and Canada's double Olympic gold medallist Rosannagh MacLennan qualified in third with 105.165 points.

Earlier in the day, the tumbling qualification event took place, with Russia's Vadim Afanasev leading with 75.600 points.

Home favourite Mikhail Malkin, crowned European champion last year at the same venue, scoring 74.900 points to qualify in second.

Kazakhstan's Alexandr Romakhov was in third with 70.200 points.

The competition in Baku is due to continue tomorrow with the finals of the individual trampolining event, as well as of the tumbling and synchro pairs.
