The Lithuanian Olympic Committee (LTOK) held their 2019 Winter Festival in Druskininkai, celebrating winter sport in the country.

Over three days various events went ahead in the town square including an "X-trial sprint", where more than 100 runners completed a 2.6 kilometre race before climbing a 640 metre hill.

The winners received prizes from the Grand Spa Lietuva, while the best team was given €250 (£217/$283).

An international curling tournament, snow kart racing and a night skiing session also went ahead on the first day.

An international snow volleyball tournament was also held, alongside a snow kayak competition and a mascot event in which competitors had to show their skills in speed skiing, speed skating, street dancing and ice hockey.

The snow volleyball tournament was won by Lithuanians Arnas Rumševičius, Mantas Donėla, Justas Abramaitis and Tadas Donėla on the men's side, while Vytenė Vitkauskaitė, Urtė Andriukaitytė and Daiva Anuškevičiūtė won the women's event.

"It wasn't easy, but we made it," Rumševičius said afterwards.

"Snow caused some considerable problems, as falling down was pretty painful, our bodies really ached."

In total the organisers claimed almost 10,000 people attended, with 8,000 souvenirs given away over the three days.

Among those to visit were Olympic champions Vida Vencienė and LTOK President Daina Gudzinevičiūtė, who used to compete in cross country skiing and shooting respectively.

They were joined by the new Minister of Education, Science and Sport Algirdas Monkevičius and chairman of the Commission for Youth and Sport Affairs Kęstutis Smirnovas.
