The Ukrainian team emerged as the winners of the mixed team cross-country competition with Dmytro Suiarko and Vasyl Potapenko leading their challenge.

The duo handed over to Oleksandra Kononova for the second leg, with Yulia Batenkova-Bauman then taking over.

Liudmyla Liashenko led the team across the line at the end of the race in an overall time of 27min 19.2sec.

Hosts Canada were able to claim the silver medal in a time of 27:46.6.

The podium was rounded off by Germany in 28:29.3, while Japan missed out on a medal spot by finishing their effort in 30:10.1.

Nine teams lined up in the open relay competition, with Norway clinching gold.

Trygve Steinar Larsen and Hakon Olsrud led Norway into second place after the opening two legs of the race, with France leading the way.

Vilde Nilsen would cross the line in third place behind France and Poland as he handed over for the final leg.

Eirik Bye and Eivind Roed ensured Norway led when it mattered most, as the pairing crossed the line first in 24:48.8.

France would finish as the silver medallists, with their team eventually ending 12 seconds adrift of the winners.

Bronze was claimed by Ukraine, who finished in a time of 25:08.2.

The Championships will conclude tomorrow with individual long distance races being held at the Canadian venue.
