Vanuatu will stage a National Sports Awards for the first time, it has been announced.

The event has been created after a link-up between the Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee, the Vanuatu Sports Commission and the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Korman Stadium will host the awards on March 30, with 11 prizes up for grabs.

These include sportsman and sportswoman of the year and youth man and woman of the year.

Team prizes for men and women will also be awarded, as well as administrator of the year and technical official of the year.

Coach of the year, National Federation of the year and sports photograph of the year are the remaining categories. 

Nomination forms have now been sent out to all of the Pacific country's sporting governing bodies.

Vanuatu's highlight of 2018 was the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia. 

The country won two bronze medals in Para-athletics and beach volleyball.
