Hosts Great Britain will meet Japan in the final of the Wheelchair Rugby Quad Nations in Leicester, despite losing to the East Asian country today.

The home side fell to a narrow 47-43 defeat in the second of three matches at the Morningside Arena.

But their wins yesterday against Canada and France proved to be enough to secure a second-place finish in the round-robin phase and qualification for the gold medal game.

Japan also beat Canada today, by a scoreline of 53-48, to make it three victories out of three.

France finished in third place thanks to a 50-46 success over Canada.

Those two nations will meet again in tomorrow's bronze medal game, due to be held prior to the final.

The event comes in the build-up to the World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge, which will be played alongside the Rugby World Cup in Tokyo in October and involve the top eight teams in the world.

Thai duty-free giant King Power are serving as the sponsor for the second year running.

This move is viewed as continuing the legacy of the company's former chairman Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who was also the former chairman of Leicester City Football Club.

He was one of five people tragically killed in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium in Leicester in October.
