Defending champions Mongolia will play The Philippines in the final of the International Ice Hockey Federation Challenge Cup of Asia after both countries came through their last four clashes today.

The Mongolians defeated hosts Malaysia 12-6 in a crazy high-scoring contest in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia led 2-1 at the end of the first period at the National Ice Skating Stadium but the floodgates opened in the second as Mongolia scored six times to the hosts' two.

Five more Mongolian goals arrived in the third period of the entertaining contest.

The Philippines came through against Singapore 6-1.

They will be hoping for a repeat of the group stage result in tomorrow's final, when they beat Mongolia 6-3.

Both sides had already booked their place in the last four at that point, however.

Singapore and Malaysia will also meet tomorrow for the bronze medals.
