Anna Maria Wagner of Germany won her first International Judo Federation (IJF) Grand Prix gold on the third and final day of competition in Marrakech.

Last month's Düsseldorf Grand Slam silver medallist edged out Tel Aviv Grand Prix silver medallist Loriana Kuka of Kosovo to win the under-78 kilograms title.

A single waza-ari score was the difference as the uchi-mata of the German judoka, who is ranked 13th in the world, once again proved effective.

The first bronze medal contest was won by Portugal's Junior World Championships bronze medallist Patricia Sampaio, who defeated Düsseldorf Grand Slam bronze medallist Bernadette Graf of Austria.

The second bronze medal was won by Luise Malzahn of Germany, who beat Karen Stevenson of The Netherlands to earn her 20th Grand Prix medal - a record on the IJF World Judo Tour.

Ireland's Tel Aviv Grand Prix silver medallist Benjamin Fletcher earned his country's second Grand Prix gold medal with a hard-fought win over openweight World Championships silver medallist Toma Nikiforov of Belgium in the men's-100kg class.

Fletcher, who won the Tunis Grand Prix last year, defeated the European champion after 52 seconds of golden score by countering an ambitious sasae attempt.

The Fletcher household claimed two medals in Morocco as Ben's older sister Megan won a career-best silver medal yesterday.

Bronzes went to Kayhan Ozcicek-Takagi of Australia and Uzbekistan's Mukhammadkarim Khurramov.

World number 55 Sven Heinle of Germany  was the last man standing in the men's heavyweight over-100kg category as he defeated Tashkent Grand Prix bronze medallist Yerassyl Kazhybayev of Kazakhstan.

The bronze medals went to Andril Kolesnyk of Ukraine and Temur Rakhimov of Tajikistan.

World Championships bronze medallist Kayra Sayit of Turkey won her fourth Grand Prix title for Turkey with an impressive display in the women's heavyweight over-78kg category.

Sayit threw one-time Grand Prix winner Tessie Savelhouls of The Netherlands for a waza-ari score and will expect to break into the world's top 10 with the prospect of a home Grand Prix coming up next month in Antalya.

Bronze medals went to Cameroon's Mballa Atangana and Cheikh Rouhou of Tunisia.

Wagner was not the only judoka to earn a first Grand Prix gold on the night - Serbia's former world champion Nemanja Majdov also earned that distinction in the men's under-90kg class.

He beat Eduard Trippel of Germany in a closely fought final, scoring a waza-ari without reply.

Bronze medals went to Ukraine's Quedjau Nhabali and former Junior World Championships silver medallist Robert Florentino of the Dominican Republic, who dispatched France's Aurelien Diesse after 35 seconds by ippon to become his country's first male medallist on the IJF World Judo Tour.
