Switzerland's Theo Gmur, Paralympic champion in the men's standing giant slalom, succeeded at the third attempt in beating France's 18-year-old world champion Arthur Bauchet at the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup at the Spanish resort of La Molina.

On the third day of giant slalom contests, Gmur earned gold with his combined time of 1min 41.12sec, with Bauchet just 0.12sec adrift.

Santeri Kiveri of Finland was third in 1:43.01.

Double world champion Jeroen Kampschreur followed up on his revenge win in the men's sitting event.

After taking third place in his first race, the Dutchman won gold on Tuesday (March 12) and repeated his feat as he finished in 1:46.61.

Second place went to Italy's Rene de Slvestro in 1:47.92, and the gold medallist from day one, Taiki Morii of Japan, finished third in 1:49.72.

Japan's world champion Momoka Muraoka won her third successive race in the women's sitting, extending her giant slalom winning streak to seven races this year.

Muraoka clocked 1:57.42 in front of Germany's Anna-Lena Forster, who clocked 2:03.13, and Laurie Stephens of the United States, who registered 2:12.30.

Menna Fitzpatrick of Britain won the women's giant slalom vision impaired event at the third time of asking, beating Australia's reigning super combined world champion Melissa Perrine, who had won the previous two races.

Fitzpatrick, guided by Jennifer Kehoe, clocked 1:58.75, with Austria's Veronika Aigner, partnered by Elisabeth Aigner, second in 1:59.25 and Perrine, who is guide by Bobbi Kelly, clocking 2:00.63.

In the women's standing class Marie Bochet of France, the 25-year-old who won gold in every discipline at January's World Para Alpine Skiing Championships across Italy and Slovenia, earned her third win in 1:50.65.

Frederique Turgeon of Canada was second in 1:55.49 in front of Germany's Anna-Maria Rieder, who clocked 1:59.51.

Marek Kubacka of Slovakia won the men's vision impaired event as he and his guide Maria Zatovicova clocked 1:47.99, with France's Hyacinthe Deleplace taking silver in 1:53.58 with guide Maxime Jourdan.

Thomas Civade of France, guided by Kerwan Larmet, was third in 1:58.81.

Action continues tomorrow with the first of two days of slalom.
