Australia met Argentina in both the men and women's FIH Pro League at Sydney's iconic Olympic Park Hockey Centre. 

Australia's men defeated the Rio 2016 Olympic champions 3-2 to get their fourth consecutive win of the competition.

They went 2-0 up through Jeremy Hayward, before Blake Govers made the score 3-0 just before half time.

The second half saw the Argentinian side fight back, with Maico Casella and Juan Catan putting the tie at 3-2. 

Australia successfully ran down the clock, though, to take the victory. 

"That’s four on the trot now, so we are really happy with that but it was a pretty testing match," said Australia co-captain and player of the match Aran Zalewski. 

"We got up 3-0 early but Argentina in the second half really fought back and when they got to 3-2 there were some really tense moments. 

"I think we held out really well in the end."

Argentina triumphed 1-0 in the women's match, with Delfina Merino scoring the game's solitary goal. 

"We are happy with the result, with the win, but now we have to improve to get more goals, have more penalty corners and play better," Argentina’s Rosario Luchetti, named player of the match, said.

"We have to be more concentrated. 

"In the second-half Australia came onto us a lot and we got nervous, so we need to be more concentrated and maybe play easier."

Australia are due to face New Zealand at the same venue tomorrow.
