China’s Zhong Sai Chun beat compatriot Sun Gang to the men’s foil category A gold medal on day two of the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in Pisa in Italy.

Zhong followed up a 15-10 win over Russia’s Nikita Nagaev by defeating Sun 15-7 at Via Federico Chiarugi.

Sun overcame another Chinese competitor, Chen Liqiang, 15-5 in the other last-four encounter.

Nagaev and Chen shared the third step of the podium.

In the women's sabre category A event, Poland's Kinga Drozdz clinched gold with a 15-11 win over Hungary's Eva Andr Hajmasi.

Ukraine's Yevheniia Breus and China's Wang Xiujian were the bronze medallists.

Taking home the women's sabre category B title was Georgia's Irma Khetsuriani, who beat China's Ao Lanzhu 15-12 in the final.

The bronze medals went to Thailand's Saysunee Jana and Xiao Rong. 

Also tasting victory was Poland’s Kamil Rzasa in the men’s épée category B event, 

He secured gold by defeating France’s Marc An Cratere 11-9.

Great Britain’s Dimitri Coutya and China’s Hu Daoliang were the bronze medallists.

Action in Pisa is due to continue tomorrow.
