Sweden and Switzerland secured the two automatic places in the semis by finishing first and second, respectively, in the round-robin stage.

Canada, the United States and Scotland qualified for the play-offs alongside Japan, who had already booked their spot in the next round.

The hosts take on Scotland in the play-off round, while Olympic champions the US go up against Japan.

Sweden will face the lower-ranked qualifier in the semi-final, with Switzerland facing the other team which comes through the play-offs.

The Swedish rink, skipped by Niklas Edin, sealed top spot with an 8-4 victory over the US.

The result saw Sweden finish the round-robin phase with 11 wins and one loss.

"It’s as good as we could have hoped for," said Edin.

"We’ve played really well so far and the one game we lost to Scotland, we actually played pretty well, too. 

"We’ve nothing to complain about so far, but now all the games are pretty important.”

Switzerland claimed the second automatic semi-final berth by defeating China 8-4.

Results in the second session saw Canada and the US qualify for the play-offs before Scotland clinched the sixth and final spot with a 9-5 win over Italy.

The play-off matches and semi-finals are due to be held tomorrow.
