Thailand hammered Singapore 9-1 to lead the standings at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's Challenge Cup of Asia in Abu Dhabi. 

Nuchanat Ponglerkdee and Varachanant Boonyubol scored two goals each for Thailand at Zayed Sports City Ice Rink in the United Arab Emirates capital.

Minsasha Teekhathanasakul, Sirikarn Jittresin, Rinrada Poka, Pijittra Saejear and Kiratika Changna also got on the score sheet for their country, 

Elizabeth Chia scored a consolation for Singapore.

The result put Thailand at the top of the round-robin table with seven points.

The 2018 bronze medallists can win the tournament tomorrow if they beat Malaysia, who are yet to take any points.

If Thailand lose, defending champions Chinese Taipei could retain their title with a victory against fourth-place New Zealand.
