The final day of the FiNA Artistic Swimming World Series event in Tokyo saw Japan sweep up three golds ©FINA

 Japan swept up all three golds available on the third and final day of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Artistic Swimming World Series in Tokyo.

The first victory at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Centre came in the solo event courtesy of Yukiko Inui, who earned 93.4667 for her solo free routine.

“I'm glad I was able to score over 93 points, which I had targeted last year,” Inui said.

“It makes me confident for the rest of the season.”

Second place went to Italy's Linda Cerruti with 91.1000, while Canada’s Jacqueline Simoneau took bronze with 90.2000.

The highlight routine was the penultimate event of this fourth leg of the World Series, with four countries presenting various acrobatic moves such as lifts, jumps and throws.

Japan won by a narrow margin, earning 92.0000 points.

Under the theme of “Australian Hard Rock”, Spain secured the silver medal with 91.6333, with bronze going to Canada on 88.4333.

The free combination event marked the grand finale of this Tokyo leg.

Japan performed under the theme of “Mermaid” to earn gold with 92.3000 points after a graceful four-minute routine.

Silver went to China, led by twin sisters Jiang Wenwen and Tingting, with 88.6333, and South Korea collected bronze with 79.0667.

The next World Series leg will be held in Beijing from May 4 to 5.
