Russia consolidated their position at the top of Group B with a sixth straight win at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Slovakia.

A 3-0 victory over Switzerland saw them remain top with 18 points, three more than the Czech Republic, who beat Austria 8-0 today at Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava.

Russia have already qualified for the quarter-finals, as have the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Finland moved to the top of Group A with a 3-0 win over France tonight.

They are assured of a quarter-final place along with the United States, who defeated Germany 3-1 today, Canada and Germany.

Two-time defending champions Sweden can secure their quarter-final place tomorrow if they beat Latvia.
