The Austrian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (ÖBSV) have named Wolfgang Stampfer as the new coach of their national team.
He replaces Franz-Josef Hofmann, who stepped down from the role for health reasons.
Stampfer represented Austria as a bobsleigh pilot until 2010, competing in the Salt Lake 2002, Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
His best Olympic placing was seventh in the two-man event at Salt Lake.
Stampfer also collected a bronze medal in the four-man bobsleigh at the 1999 European Championships in Winterberg.
After retiring in 2010, the 47-year old became a coach for Italy before taking up the same role for the Swiss national team in 2014.
Austria have not won an Olympic medal in bobsleigh since 1992, when they earned gold in the four-man bobsleigh at Albertville.
It was also announced that Franz Huber has succeeded Reinhard Poller as the new ÖBSV executive director.
Poller, previously secretary general of the Austria's Luge Federation, was in office since October 2018.
The reason for his departure has not been given.
