Hosts Morocco won two of the six gold medals on offer as the African Beach Sambo Championships took place on Plage Aïn Diab in Casablanca today.

Joussef Faout beat Ivory Coast's Modibo Coulibaly to the men's 62 kilograms title, while Moutii Amine defeated Algeria's Abdelkeder Amrouche in the men's 74kg final.

Congo's Jean Mouaka-Tsiloulou and Ghana's Frank Atta were the 62kg bronze medallists.

Rounding out the 74kg podium were Congo's Mauve Mahoungou and Cameroon's William Celestin Fokam.

Today's two other male winners were Angola's Henrique Joalo and Algeria's Billal Kelifa in the 90kg and over-100kg categories respectively.

Joalo overcame compatriot Jose Simoes to clinch top honours, while Kelifa downed Cameroon's Maxwell Nama in their final.

The 90kg bronze medals went to Benin's Forel Sossou and Cameroon's Raoul Ndjima Ehowa.

Cameroonians Seidou Nji Mouluh and Vanlier Noan shared the third step of the over-100kg podium.

In women's competition, Cameroon's Tiako Essombe came away with the 60kg title ahead of Mali's Aida Tiama.

There was a reverse of fortunes in the over-80kg final as a Malian, Noellie Kome, beat a Cameroonian in Edwige Feugang Kuetche.

Algeria's Talbi Ranya and Ghana's Rachel Kotey were the 60kg bronze medallists.

The third-place finishers at over-80kg were Morocco's Sanaa Mandar and Algeria's Chima Haoussi.
