The meeting in Doha marked the latest step towards the first edition of the Games, stripped from San Diego and relocated to Qatar after Californian organisers proved unable to raise the necessary money to fund the event.

Representatives from the International Federations (IFs) were given an update on progress made by the recently-established Organising Committee and provided feedback on potential improvements.

They were given a tour of Katara Beach, set to be the main venue for the Games, and the proposed secondary location at Gharafa Sports Complex.

Venue services, timing and scoring, accommodation, medical, anti-doping, transport, ticketing and security were among the other areas covered by the Organising Committee on the first day of the meeting.

A series of workshops for the technical delegations, national federations and competition managers were held on the second day.

ANOC said the workshops were "designed to ensure that any immediate actions that are required are identified and prioritised" in the build-up to the event, scheduled to run from October 12 to 16.

"It has been critically important to meet with the IF technical delegates here to get their expert feedback on how we can hone and refine our plans," said ANOC secretary general Gunilla Lindberg. 

"Of course, no one knows their sport better than they do and so it has been very valuable to hear where and how we can improve. 

"It has been very encouraging to hear the technical delegates speak so positively about the work that has been done and the strength of the team we have here in Doha."

A Chef de Mission seminar for the ANOC World Beach Games is due to begin today and conclude on Thursday (July 11).

The technical delegate meeting followed the signing of the host city contract last month.

Basketball, football, handball, karate, sailing, skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing, swimming, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, waterskiing and wrestling are set to feature at the Games.
