Jones topped the podium at Rio 2016 and London 2012 and would become the first British woman to win three Olympic titles on the spin if she triumphed in the Japanese capital next year.

And the 26-year-old, who won her first world crown in Manchester in May, is determined to achieve that Olympic landmark.

"I was chuffed with the World Championships but being a perfectionist, I always want more," Jones told BBC Sport.

"I know I've got to be even better and on my game to get that [Olympic] gold medal."

"I would become a legend if I did this and would do something that nobody had done.

"I just love the feeling of winning – it's addictive – so I just want to keep winning."

Double European champion Jones, who also won European Games gold in Baku four years ago, has left open the possibility of competing at Paris 2024.

“Because the training is so hard and our life is in cycles, I can only ever see to the next [Olympics]," Jones said.

"I still can't imagine retiring in a year.

“I'm just going to do that one [Tokyo] and see how I feel after that."
