Britain's Emily Benham Kvåle won the senior W21 middle-distance event today to claim her second gold medal of the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (WMTBOC) in and around Viborg in Denmark.

Kvåle triumphed in 56min 7sec, just a day after coming out on top in the W21 sprint event.

It increases to six her overall WMTBOC medal tally, including three golds.

Czech Republic's Veronika Kubínová was the silver medallist, again, in 56:12, while Finland's Marika Hara and Denmark's Camilla Soegaard shared the bronze after both crossed the line in 58:24.

In the equivalent men's race, Czech Republic's Vojtech Ludvik prevailed in 53:59.

Russia's Anton Foliforov and Grigory Medvedev, the silver and gold medallists in yesterday's sprint respectively, rounded off the podium.

Foliforov finished 44 seconds behind to beat Medvedev to the silver medal by a margin of seven seconds.

Action is due to continue tomorrow with the long-distance events.
