Petr Ramseidl has been named as the new coach of the Switzerland bobsleigh team, succeeding Wolfgang Stampfer.

Austrian Stampfer leaves Swiss Sliding to take charge of his home national team, with Czech coach Ramseidl taking over.

The 55-year-old competed in the two-man bobsleigh event for Czech Republic in the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville.

He entered coaching after his retirement from competition and has previously worked with the Swiss national team.

Ramseidl was in the coaching team of Martin Annen when he won bronze medals in the two-man and four-man events at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

He had coached the Great Britain bobsleigh team since 2015, and brings Chris Woolley from his back room staff with him to Switzerland.

Woolley will work for Swiss Sliding as an athletic coach.
