Amaury Pierron and Marine Cabirou sealed a French double in the downhill events at the International Cycling Union (UCI) Mountain Bike World Cup in Lenzerheide in Switzerland.

Britain's Danny Hart had topped the qualifying leaderboard with Pierron down in fifth but it was the Frenchman who had the bit between his teeth when it counted.

Pierron clocked 2min 49.422sec to win from South Africa's Greg Minnaar.

It represented a third World Cup win of the season after victories at Fort William and Les Gets.

Minnaar crossed the line in 2:50.373 as overall series leader Loïc Bruni took third position in 2:50.822.

The Frenchman tops the standings on 1,312 points, with Pierron climbing to second on 1,222 points.

Australia's Troy Brennan dropped to third on 1,094 points.

Hannah had earlier topped the qualifying charts but missed out on victory by 0.264 seconds.

France's Caribou won in 3:34.304 as Hannah trailed behind in 3:34.568.

Switzerland's Emile Siegenthaler gave the home crowd something to cheer about as she secured third place in 3:41.389.

The UCI World Cup is due to continue tomorrow with the cross country races.

Mathieu Van Der Poel of The Netherlands and France's Pauline Ferrand-Prevot will aim to build on yesterday's short track wins.
