The Tokyo 2020 basketball test event gets underway tomorrow, with the Saitama Super Arena hosting four days of competition.

Organised by the Japan Basketball Association, the International Basketball Games and International Women’s Basketball Games will serve as the test event for Saitama Super Arena – one of two venues to be used for the sport at next year's Olympic Games, along with the Aomi Urban Sports Venue.

Japan's men's national team will face Argentina tomorrow, before going up against Germany on Saturday (August 24) and Tunisia on Sunday (August 25).

There will also be a men's match between Germany and Tunisia on Friday (August 23).

Japan's women's national team are scheduled to meet Chinese Taipei on Saturday and Sunday in what is known as the Mitsui Fudosan Cup.

The men's event has already officially begun with Japan having played matches against New Zealand last week, on August 12 and 14.

They triumphed 99-89 in the first game, held at the Chiba Port Arena.

It was followed, however, by a 104-87 defeat in the second game in Kawasaki.
