Japan will face Thailand in the final of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championships after they both earned 3-1 victories today in Seoul.

The Japanese fought back from losing the first set in the day's opening semi-final against South Korea at Jamsil Arena.

The 2020 Olympic hosts recovered to win 22-25, 25-23, 26-24, 28-26.

In the other last four contest, Thailand caused an upset as they defeated Olympic champions China.

An epic third set proved decisive as Thailand won 23-25, 25-22, 34-32, 25-23.

Japan and Thailand will meet in the final tomorrow, following the third place match between China and the South Koreans.

Earlier, India and Australia earned their places in the Asian Continental Olympic Qualification tournament with victory in the ninth to 12th classification matches.

Eight teams enter the continental qualifiers, decided by final placement at the current competition, but with Japan having qualified as hosts and China reaching the Games via the international qualifiers, the ninth and 10th placed teams also earn a spot in the final round.

India achieved this in the morning match, defeating Hong Kong in straight sets 25-19, 25-14, 25-22.

Australia were made to work harder as they were pushed to five sets by New Zealand before triumphing 25-13, 25-20, 24-26, 26-28, 15-9.
