Teams from Turkey, Lithuania and Russia are going through their final paces as they prepare for the third edition of the Gloria Cup basketball tournament, starting in Antalya tomorrow.

Gloria Sports Arena (GSA) welcomes six teams for the tournament, which takes on a two-group format, culminating in the finals on Sunday (September 15).

Turkish sides Teksüt Bandırma and Tofaş will be joined by Russians CSKA Moscow in Group A.

Group B will consist of Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania and Turkish teams Galatasaray Doğa Sigorta and Anadolu Efes.

The teams which top the round-robin groups will contest the championship final on Sunday, with the second-placed teams playing off for third position.

The bottom two clubs will face off for fifth place on the final day.

The GSA provides facilities for more than 50 sports branches, with gymnastics, boxing, basketball, volleyball, wrestling and an indoor athletics track among its features.

The outdoor area includes three pools, one of which is Olympic-size, with different features and equipment, as well as running tracks, athletic fields, tennis courts, climbing walls, and fields for football, rugby, field hockey and beach volleyball.

"With the Gloria Sports Arena brand, we hold the title of the most comprehensive sports hotel in Europe," said GSA chief executive Elif Özdemir.

"Our goal is to provide a unique experience for the teams and athletes who come here but, as well, our intention is to do our best for the development of sports and athletes in Turkey, and ensure that those watching the broadcast can see that it is organised in Turkey."

The Gloria Cup athletics tournament will follow the conclusion of the basketball event, taking place on Monday (September 16).

The athletics meet is seen by the Turkish Athletic Federation as a final preparation tournament for the International Association of Athletics Federations World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Federation President Fatih Çintimar said 14 Turkish and 56 foreign athletes from 25 countries will attend the championship.

“It is so valuable for the Federation – one of the top three federations in Turkey – to take a place in the Gloria Cup 2019 organisation," said Çintimar.

"GSA is the best camp facility in the world.

"After the Gloria Cup Athletics Championship, our athletes will go to Doha – and competing here is important preparation them."
