Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah and Board member Herbert Mensah, President of Ghana Rugby, joined the Ghana Eagles women's sevens team as they presented a variety of products to the Black Queens' football team.

The football team will face Kenya on September 30 and October 4 in a two-leg Confederation of African Football Olympics Qualifying Tournament as they bid to compete at Tokyo 2020.

On October 12 and 13 the women's rugby sevens side will travel to Tunisia to take on 11 of Africa's top sides for a chance to reach the Olympic Games.

The products presented by the Eagles were sponsored by Sunda International and Conserveria Africana Ltd through its Gino brands.

Rafatu Inusah, a Ghana Rugby Board member and women's representative, told the Black Queens side: "When I heard about the challenges the Black Queens are facing, we decided to show our concern and solidarity by donating part of our stipend allowance and products from our sponsors, Sunda International and Gino, to them. 

"Ghana Rugby does not entertain gender inequalities and we are saddened by the current situation in Ghana sports."

Mensah described a "touching gesture" from the Ghana rugby squad but reminded those present that the Ghana Eagles were also preparing for an Olympics qualifier.

He added: "Since Ghana Rugby started with serious structuring of the sport in 2014 it has not received any support from the Government even though it has been flying Ghana's flag high on the international stage.

"In light of the plight of our national ladies' teams the support from both Sunda and Gino is once again highly appreciated and valued."
