Hosts Canada defeated Iroquois Nationals 19-12 to win the elite blue group at the World Lacrosse Men's Indoor World Championship in British Columbia.

The two sides have met in the final at all four tournaments held, with the Canadians winning on each occasion.

It was the same result today at Langley Events Centre as round-robin play reached a conclusion.

Canada have now advanced directly to the semi-finals after winning the group with the Iroquois, who represent the Native American confederacy, joining them despite defeat after finishing second.

All five teams from the blue group will move on to the knockout phase regardless of their results.

United States, who have won every bronze medal in the tournament's history, ended third after beating England 22-3.

They have been awarded a place in the quarter-finals alongside fourth-place Israel.

England must now negotiate the opening play-off round after losing all of their blue group games, alongside the winners of the other three groups.

Their opponents will be orange group winners Finland who ensured progression yesterday by completing a 100 per cent round-robin record.

Czech Republic beat Scotland 11-6 today to win the green group with four wins from four, and also go through.

They will meet The Netherlands, who won the yellow group following a 17-11 success over Hong Kong.

Play-off matches begin tomorrow.
