Egyptian pair Raneem El Welily and Mohamed ElShorbagy were crowned Professional Squash Association (PSA) Oracle NetSuite Open champions in San Francisco.

El Welily lifted the women's title in this PSA World Tour Gold tournament with victory against compatriot Nour El Tayeb.

The world number one needed just 23 minutes at Embarcadero Plaza to dispatch the world number five ranked El Tayeb.

El Welily was in control from the off and reeled off six straight points to take an 11-6 lead.

She held off a second game fightback to record an 11-6, 11-6, 11-5 triumph, her 13th against El Tayeb on the Professional Squash Association World Tour.

"I definitely felt good out there today," said El Welily.

"I just was trying to play all the way to the end and not to give any loose shots or give any cheap points.

"I wanted to try as hard as I could and I think that was what kept me going through to the end."

ElShorbagy secured a second Oracle NetSuite Open trophy, overcoming compatriot Tarek Momen in a deciding fifth game.

The world number two took the opening game 11-6 in just nine minutes only for Momen to level up with a 13-11 tiebreak in the second game.

A tight third set saw ElShorbagy retake the lead on an 11-9 scoreline, before world number three Momen levelled for a second time, taking the fourth game 11-7.

But Momen couldn't maintain his momentum and ElShorbagy prevailed, clinching the deciding set 11-4.

"The way Tarek has been playing, the consistency he has had is unbelievable," said ElShorbagy.

"I think the way the match went, it was cat and mouse.

"We both kept doing different things and luckily I won the first game so I had the advantage.

"We are going to play a lot this season and hopefully we will some more amazing matches for the fans to enjoy."
