Jamaica thrashed Saint Lucia 11-0 today to move to the brink of securing their place at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship final tournament.

The emphatic win for the Caribbean section's Group B hosts came at the National Stadium in Kingston.

It moves them onto a perfect nine points from their three matches and a draw against the United States Virgin Islands on Tuesday (October 8) will ensure top spot and a place at the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship final tournament.

Even if Jamaica lost that match and Cuba beat Saint Lucia to join them on nine points, it would take a major swing in goal difference for the Cubans to take first place.

Jamaica are currently on plus-29, while Cuba, who lost 12-1 to the Jamaicans last Monday (September 30), are on zero.

Today’s other match in Group B saw Barbados defeat the US Virgin Islands 4-0.

In Group A, Saint Kitts and Nevis overcame hosts Trinidad and Tobago at Couva's Ato Boldon Stadium to move up to first place with one round of games remaining.

There was also a 2-1 win for Antigua and Barbuda against Aruba.

In the Central America section, Nicaragua beat El Salvador 2-1 in Group A and Guatemala defeated Honduras 4-0 in Group B.

Costa Rica and Panama are the respective hosts of the three-team Groups A and B.

The outcome of those will be determined on Tuesday.

The dates and location for the finals are still to be confirmed.

Canada, Mexico and the US have already qualified for the finals.
