Dutchman Mike Schloesser faltered at the last as American Kris Schaff won the men's compound title at the Macau Indoor Archery Open.

Schloesser, the top seed, produced a faultless qualification round at the season-opening event yesterday and backed that up with four perfect elimination matches to reach the final.

He did not drop a point after two ends of the gold medal clash with Schaff, either, as his streak stretched to a sensational 126 10s in a row.

The seventh arrow from Schloesser then hit the nine, however, and two more followed in the fourth end.

It allowed reigning Indoor Archery World Series champion Schaff to capitalise and take victory 148-147.

Bronze at the Venetian Resort went to another American as Reo Wilde beat Russia's Alexander Dambaev 145-144.

Andrea Robles of The Philippines won the women's compound final after a surprise 141-135 success over American Paige Pearce-Gore, the World Championship runner-up.

"I'm feeling really good," said Robles.

"I'm feeling really happy that I [won], especially because it's my first time at these events.

"I'm just having fun with it, training my best and enjoying."

Sarah Prieels of Belgium, the top seed, won bronze by beating American Alexis Ruiz 145-143.

Both recurve finals were all South Korean affairs between the first and second seeds.

Top-ranked Ko Dusol beat compatriot Lee Jongyoung 6-2 to scoop the men's title, but Park Seon Jin upset top-seeded team-mate Ha Siyeon to win the women's final 6-4.

Bronze in the men's event went to Australian David Barnes, who beat Rakwon Kim of South Korea 6-4.

The women's bronze medallist was South Korea's Sohee Park, who completed a 1-2-3 for her country by defeating Dutch archer Gabriela Bayardo 7-3.
