Mike Schloesser impressed on the second day of the World Archery Indoor World Series in Luxembourg.

The Dutch archer headed to the Guillaume Tell Strassen Archery Club with a second-place finish already achieved in the series at the opening event in Macau.

He headed the second stage of men's compound qualification at the GT Open 250, dropping just one shot to end on 599.

Denmark's Stephan Hansen matched his tally, while Italy's Sergio Pagni joined Americans Tate Morgan and Paul Tedford on 598.

Schloesser earned victory in his first round match later in the day, as he overcame fellow Dutchman Max Verwoerdt 149-148.

The competition will continue tomorrow.

Germany's Janine Meissner matched Ella Gibson total in women's compound qualifying, with the British archer having achieved a world record 596 yesterday.

Meissner beat fellow German Jennifer Wenzl 150-140 in her first-round contest, while Gibson overcame Germany's Kerstin Weyand 147-144.

Men’s recurve top seed Cedric Rieger won his first knockout match against France's Valentin Ripaux, with the German triumphing 6-2.

Second seed Crispin Duenas of Canada eased to a 6-0 win over Croatia's Maks Rezek.

South Korea’s Kim Young Kyeong justified her status as the top seed in the women’s recurve event.

She secured a 6-0 win over Gabrielle Chabrol of France in the first round.

Competition will conclude tomorrow with knock-out matches and finals taking place.
