Akinori Wase and Daishuke Yajima of Japan claimed the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) Asia-Pacific Beach Cup title in Sanya.

The pair overcame Malaysia's Muhammad Eizlan Rakhil Bin Abd Rahman and Shahul Hameed Al Barilan 20-14, 16-20, 20-10 to top the podium at the China Corporate Beach Games venue.

They eased past Chung Yu-jong and Park Min-soo of South Korea 20-9, 20-7 in the semi-finals, having gone through the group stage undefeated.

Chung and Park were also defeated in the bronze-medal contest, losing 20-18, 20-16 to Aser Xuma and Etienne Cau Poanoui of France. 

The competition is a taster of what is to come at next year's Asian Beach Games, also taking place in Sanya, where teqball will be an official medal sport for the first time.
