Hosts Thailand and China were not in action today, ending in fifth and sixth, respectively.

The quarter-finals have Tokyo 2020 places riding on them, as the top-four countries from the event who are not Japan will qualify for next year's Paralympic Games.

Japan, who get an automatic berth at Tokyo 2020 as hosts, will meet Saudi Arabia, with Australia taking on Malaysia.

Iran will play China, while South Korea take on Thailand.

In the women's event there was joy for Thailand, as they won Division B on the penultimate day of group action to reach the semi-finals.

They defeated Cambodia 28-17 to end with a 100 per cent record in the five-team group and join three Division A countries in the last four.

Division A's double round-robin continued with a 52-37 win for China over winless Japan, leaving the Chinese on top with three wins from three.

In Division B, Iran beat Afghanistan 41-35 to register a third win but the Thai success means they are out of contention.

Women's group stage play will conclude tomorrow.

Three Tokyo 2020 spots are available from their tournament.
