Suzanne Schulting of The Netherlands earned gold at the distance over which she holds the Olympic title, the women’s 1000 metres, as the International Skating Union's Short Track World Cup competition in Shanghai concluded.

The 22-year-old from Groningen, beaten in her last World Cup race at this distance, finished in 1min 29.089sec at the Oriental Sports Center, with South Korea’s Seo Whi Min second in 1:29.114.

Canada’s in-form Kim Boutin, winner of the previous night’s 500m title, took the bronze medalin 1:29.218.

Boutin finished the programme with another gold medal, however, as she joined Alyson Charles, Courtney Lee Sarault and Danae Blais in helping Canada win the women’s 3000m relay in 4:09.460.

 Second place went to The Netherlands, with Schulting adding silver to her gold, in 4:09.810.

The United States took bronze in 4:13.280 in a final which saw the South Korean team disqualified.

The men’s 1000m title went to home skater Han Tianyu, who clocked 1:28.351.

Hungary’s Shaoang Liu took the silver medal in 1:28.369.

He finished ahead of South Korea’s Park Ji Won, who recorded 1:28.902.

Russia claimed gold in the men’s 5000m relay, in a time of 7:05.316.

The silver medal to Hungary, who clocked 7:05.452, and bronze to South Korea, who recorded 7:05.704.
