Ryan Regez celebrates victory in Montafon ©FIS

There continues to be new names on top of the podium of the ski cross (SX) discipline, at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Ski World Cup.

This weekend's competition is in the stunning resort of Montafon, Austria, and the men’s and women’s SX events were hugely competitive.

Switzerland’s Ryan Regez finished first, ahead of Kristofor Mahler.

The Canadian was unable to follow-up his victory in Val Thorens, France, last weekend.

Fellow Canadian Brady Leman rounded out the podium in Montafon.

In the women's event, Canada’s Marielle Thompson was another new face crossing the line in pole position.

Thompson had not finished in the top three of any of the two competitions so far, at Val Thorens, so it was a surprise to see her on top in Montafon.

Sweden's Sandra Näslund, who was a winner and runner-up last weekend, had to settle for second once more in Austria.

Courtney Hoffos in Canada was third - that's a hat-trick of podium finishes so far this season, but still no victories.

The next ski cross event is in three days in Arosa, Switzerland.
