The reigning overall standing champion triumphed in the women's short distance, middle distance and sprint races as she made a superb start to the new campaign.

Her success came on the course which will host the 2021 Para Snow Sports World Championships.

"It's so special to win here in Lillehammer," Nilsen, a Paralympic silver medallist, said. 

"It's in Norway and I have many emotions right now. 

"It's here we're training all the time and it's good to be here and training before the World Championships in 2021. 

"It's a great experience."

Russia were the dominant force across the categories, winning 28 medals which included the open relay and mixed relay golds.

Ivan Golubkov completed the short distance, middle distance and sprint hat-trick in the men's sitting class as his country collected 10 titles in all.

"It was the first race of the season and I was a bit nervous, but I got my lungs going and I think it will be easier in the next races," he said.

In the women's sitting, American Oksana Masters achieved the individual treble while Russia's Vera Khlyzova won both the short distance and middle distance in the women's visually impaired.

Canada's Brian McKeever, the most decorated Paralympic cross-country skier in history, also topped a podium as he won the men's visually impaired short distance.

The World Cup will now conclude with two days of biathlon, starting on Wednesday (December 18).
