The British Karate Federation (BKF) has appointed Paul Newby and Davin Pack as its performance coaches for this year's Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification tournament.

Both successfully came through a recruitment process and will now work with performance director and Olympic team leader Gary Anderson to prepare for the event in Paris.

Action in the French capital will take place at the AccorHotels Arena between May 8 and 10.

It is the final event of the Tokyo 2020 qualification process, with karate poised to make its Olympic debut in the Japanese capital.

"Paul and Davin have a wealth of experience and have both coached athletes to medals at multi-sport events," said BKF President Roger Williams.

"The BKF will now support the coaches and Gary to put in a performance programme to best prepare our athletes."

It has also been confirmed that David Inman will oversee medical support for British athletes preparing for the Paris event.

Inman is already the BKF's chief medical officer.
