The grand finale of the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games Torch tour will cover precisely 20.20 kilometres across the host city tomorrow.

Lausanne 2020 have revealed arrangements for a day in which "the canton of Vaud and Lausanne is called upon to celebrate the 200 runners who will relay the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Torch on the streets of the Olympic capital".

Organising Committee President Virginie Faivre will launch the Relay which will depart from the appropriately named Vallee de la Jeunesse - Valley of the Youth - at approximately 9am.

It will visit the lakeside campus of the University of Lausanne, then call at Olympic House, continuing a tradition begun in 1948 when an Olympic Torch Relay first visited the city and was also received at Olympic headquarters.

A number of International Olympic Committee staff have volunteered for the Games, so a commemorative photo will be taken.

The route taken by runners will then hug the banks of Lake Geneva as it passes through the districts of Vidy, Bellerive and then Ouchy Olympique.

The flame is expected to arrive at the Olympic Museum around midday.

Swiss mountain biker Linda Indergand will then light a cauldron on the Quai d'Ouchy.

She was a competitor at the inaugural Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore in 2010.

Some of the Torchbearers have been selected from youth organisations and sports clubs in the canton of Vaud itself.

Others have been chosen after a competition in which youngsters were challenged to "write a five line description of something that you're proud of because it had a positive impact on your community".

In the afternoon, the flame will continue its journey from Place Centrale.

Lausanne 2020 chief executive Ian Logan will be the first runner, with this portion of the Relay due to begin at 3pm.

As the tour reaches its climax, Switzerland's double Olympic time trial champion Fabian Cancellara will take the flame at St Lauren church.

Later, he will be joined on the Relay by Swiss Olympic President Jörg Stahl.

State councillor Philippe Leuba and Lausanne Mayor Grégoire Junod are both expected to carry the Torch at Rue de la Louve.

The end of the day's festivities will be at Place de Palud, where Swiss show jumper Mathilde Cruchet will light a final cauldron at a square best known for a fountain with a statuette depicting justice.

"I am looking forward to participating in this unique event," she said.

This will be the last time that the flame is seen in public before the Opening Ceremony on Thursday (January 9) at the Vaudoise Arena.

Organisers have announced that the Ceremony is already sold out.
