Germany and Turkey made the final of the European qualifier for the women's volleyball competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Germany featured in the first semi-final of the day at Omnisport Arena in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn and recorded a 7-25, 25-23, 25-22 victory.

Turkey battled past Poland in a five-set thriller, winning 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 33-31, 15-11.

Germany have featured three times at the Olympics, qualifying for Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, while Turkey have only competed at London 2012.

Neither country has made the podium, although West Germany claimed the silver medal at Moscow 1980.

The final is scheduled for tomorrow, with the victor claiming the sole place at Tokyo 2020.

The men's African qualifier came to an end at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex in Egypt.

Tunisia had already been declared as the winners yesterday and took on Cameroon to determine final placings.

Egypt eased past their opponents 25-16, 25-18, 25-18 to finish second, followed by Algeria in third and Cameroon last.

Qualifiers are continuing in Europe, Asia, North and South America tomorrow.
